When a new disc is inserted
When connecting a video device to the VIDEO IN, S VIDEO IN, or DV IN
connector, and dubbing manually with a new disc (page 50), the following
display appears.
When recording, press M or m to select “OK,” and press the (select)
button. Format is started. This may take several seconds to complete.
For other types of dubbing, the disc may be automatically formatted depending
on the dubbing mode.
Formatting is a necessary process before recording to a disc.
Note
For a disc formatted according to the message on this display, you can only record video with
the VIDEO IN, S VIDEO IN, or DV IN connector. When formatting a DVD+RW or DVD-
RW disc according to the message on this display, you can use the disc to record in other
dubbing modes, for example AVCHD Dubbing, if you erase the contents of the disc.
